I have sent detailed pics to those that responded ahead of you, sent this morning. If you want to make a better offer (i.e. more than asking price) and you decide to buy before they do, let me know ASAP. On the shipping, I would expect to charge what it cost me, and as far as paypal fees, that cost is on me. I do want to be fair to all involved, but at this point its in the "I want detailed pics" stage, pricing at $1250 plus shipping, so the wheels are still available. A German guy is also in the mix, but the time diff has screwed up our communications so I don't know about him. Also, sending anything to Europe is a gigantic pain. John

John, I hope Alex bought these. If you are going to endear yourself to this forum and want to play by the forum rules, you will use ebay as your auction site, NOT here.

I received a no condition all cash deal 5 minutes after I sent that PM, at the asking price (as an aside, "OBO" contemplates a potentially higher offer as well) As far as Alex goes here is what he sent: "Awesome, thanks John. I have been looking for a matching set of wheels for some time. Could you take some random pictures of the chrome in its worst condition? My 66 911 has original interior and the chrome on the exterior is also original. It looks like the patina on these wheels matches my cars current patina.
Thanks again, looking forward to seeing the photos tomorrow. Please consider these wheels sold.
    Regards,
    Alex in Virginia

To me, that is not a firm offer to buy. It seems conditional on his acceptance of the level of patina on the wheels. Before he responded, I had two, firm, no condition offers at the asking price. Additionally, a PM sugesting a better offer doesn't seem a misuse of the site, but if so, I apologize. John

Nope, they were sold out from under me. Here's the PM dialog; I thought my intentions were clear:

I'll take the wheels. Could you send close up pics to me at
    Butzi.66.911@gmail.com
    Thanks

Sure, I can send some tomorrow. If you would, let me know what particular shots you want, for example, say that wheel number 1 is to the left, and wheel number 5 is the extreme right; say "I want a shot of wheel number 3 top edge, or the middle of wheel #4, or whatever." Thanks, John

I really like what you are doing, I have cars and truck (the '58 vw pick up in the pic is 90% original paint and is loaded with patina, perhaps too much) that I keep as original as possible: I are lucky to live in Cal. I do have someone interested from Germany, he is doing a full resto and the wheels' date is perfect for him, he will be rechroming. I will be sending the pics you want tomorrow to your email. Thanks, John

Here's the email I got today:

Sorry Alex, the wheels were sold without any conditions to a local buyer soon after I sent you the pics, cash paid immediately. John

This is bad form... nice looking wheels, but not the best way to go about selling them...

Alex, from your exchange, it seems pretty clear that you were going to take them... sorry it didn't work out in your quest to find some wheels...
