    tail light assembly removal

I have an original 73 that the tail light has probably never been removed. One of the sockets is loose and the light is not working. I have not been able to pull the assembly out and I'm hesitant to pry it out because of the possibility of scratching the original paint. Does anyone have any suggestions. Thanks in advance for your advice.

There are 2 mounting screws to remove, along with the ground wire on the chassis. Then just carefully pull it out. One side has a small tail for optional rear foglight shown in the picture. I used a little dialectric grease to help remove and install the wiring grommet in the chassis.
