Boge strut , need advice on how to remove insert??

    Hi

I was hoping someone could help me in regards to removing the front inserts on my Boge
struts. I have unbolted it and from what I have read and could remember the insert should simply
pull out from the top. Well I have pulled twisted pipe renched ,pryed screamed to no avail!!
There is no locking pin for Bilsteins that I can see but it does feellocked into place!

I must be missing something any advice would be a big help.

That gland nut unscrews---use a gigantic pair of Channel Locks or *very* large pipe wrench.

I always shove the piston back up unto the fender mount, and then let the steering go all the way in the direction I'm trying to loosen. This keeps the strut from flopping around as you're applying all that grunt to loosen.

A little heat? Mine came out pretty easily with a decent long pipe wrench

The outer skin is thin metal so if you placed it on a vice chances are its warped to an oval shape and making the pulling out even harder.
Try pulling it out while twisting the insert to reshape the casing.

But he first has to unscrew the retaining nut.
