    Problems with SSI Heat Exchanger and JP Dansk muffler

    Good Morning,

    I installed new SSI heat exchangers and a JP Dansk steel muffler on my 911T 2.4 Targa (CIS). After 4 weeks and less than 500 miles, the steel muffler loses it's color (see pictures). Is this a common problem with stainless steel heat exchangers and a steel muffler?

    My dealer claims the combination is incompatible, the stainless steel heat exchangers are simply too hot. I think it is a material error. Finally, there are also painted stainless steel muffler available.

    What do you say and how would you proceed?

    My stainless steel heat muffler has done the same thing, I am not running stainless steel heat exchangers.

    The paint on the Dansks is crap. You'll have to pull the muffler off and strip, then repaint with VHT high temp paint. The good news is that the current paint will come off really quickly.

    Or you could ceramic coat the muffler and never worry about it again.
