    Paint Code Decals

So is anyone remaking these? Early '70 model year before the riveted tags became standard.

Sorry I can't recall which Dave posted the photo originally (DaveP?)

    Cheers Cam

I think you answered your own question! Too small of a market to sell remakes. This place makes the riveted one, maybe they can do one for you: http://im356-911.com/

Yes, I posted that proto before, but shamelessly stole it from elsewhere. I know of a few people missing this decal. I think it should be easy to reproduce. We need to know what material it is made of; if aluminum, then how thick. Trickier to stamp the numbers into it I would think. Those are very thin font stamps used.

I hate to say it but no one has done a decent paint plate reproduction. They stick out like sore thumb. I'd use the original no matter how rough it is.

My Jan 70 is missing it as well. What I find interesting about the panel itself is the dimples in the stamping to give the factory workers clear, predefined locations for drilling the holes for the installation of the blind rivet plates.

My September '69 build 1970 MY has its paint code decal, but I am not happy with its condition. I would certainly order a new one if they became available. I don't think switching to a metal plate is something I would recommend doing.

Anyone want to have a crack at making the decals?

I'd pay good money for one as would other I'm sure…..surely a run of 100 or so might be do-able?

Never seen these…..I thought all years from 65 on had metal tags.

When was the change and was this the same for all markets?

    Cheers,
