Can heads machined to fit 2.4 cylinders be used on 2.0 cylinders again?

    Hi!

    Title says it all.

is there a solution to use heads machined to fit 2.4 cylinder, on std 2.0 cylinders?

is it necessary to reweld the heads? I think i read somwhere that there are some adapters made but can't find it again.

    Thanks for any help!

There was mention in another thread that Supertec makes a spacer for 2.2/2.4 heads on 2.0 cylinder.

Good Q. Had the same question bout 2.2 heads that were adapted to 2.7 MFI RS conversion use.

Olivier, I believe Henry at Supertec has thick walled 80mm cylinders that fit early heads that have been machined out for 84mm and larger cylinders.

Why not just buy a set of 2.0 heads? That would be far cheaper than welding and machining a set. They are cheap and plentiful. In fact, I know a guy 100s of them.

    Jim,

what a lucky guy!!! Hundreds really?? I wonder where one can find such a treasure! ;-)

Your point is correct. But, they are pretty rare Carrera 6 twin plug heads... (not mine, unfortunately) Would you have some in your stash?
