Thread: Problem with alloy wheels.

    Problem with alloy wheels.

I have a 1968 911T with the original Fuchs alloy wheels. Originally they had tube tires. In 2006 I changed the tubes and tires for tubeless tires. The valve stems are the common type that thread together through the valve stem hole in the wheel. They have been fine since 2006 until recently when they started leaking around the valve stem. The wheels are clean and the valve stems appear to be in good condition.

Has anyone else had this problem and if so what is the solution?

Probably just need to replace the rubber seals.

With a bit of luck and trial and error you can make TR415's work or the rim can be machined for the more modern valve. NAPA I think carry TR415 part # 90-415 as a standard part that should work as option 1.

The only real solution is to machine the valve stem hole for tubeless stems. That has been covered in more detail in a few threads.
    We offer that service.
The "good" 415s are disappearing quickly....Even NAPA has changed in their last order...

Thanks to all for the replies

I found a package of the 90-415's and will give them a try.
If that fails I will have to get the wheels machined as
    suggested.
