    Santa Fe Concorso 2014

    Now in it's 5th year, I finally made it to the Santa Fe Concorso to see the beautiful cars on the green at Las Campanas CC west of the City Different.

    And I was greatly impressed The quality of cars and the level of restoration presented overall were both stunning.


    Dan Stricklin (goes by danniesaa here ) from Denver Co had this beautiful '71

    This '73 RS Coupe came from Long Beach, but I get the impression the owner has ties to NM...

    When you think New Mexico and racing, its all about the Unsers.
    It was really cool to see Al Unser Sr fire up Wilbur Shaw's famous '38 Maserati and take it for a spin to the podium...

    And this iconic car was Al's ride for 2 Indy wins in '70 and '71... Johnny Lightning

    Then little Al's D O M I N A N T Marlboro car that took him to Indy victory and the CART IndyCar Championship in 1994

    May post some more later on (the Maseratis, Ferraris & Cadillacs...), but what a day! My hat goes off to the Santa Fe Concorso organizers I now definately have a goal: Get the car restored in order to park it on that green instead of the park and ride lot 10 minutes from the event . Made the trip up there on Hwy 14 with my wife on our maiden voyage in the little '67. I have a new miss in the engine to show for it, but overall the car ran great and nobody complained cheers -

    The owner of the tangerine RS is friend and Registry member Will Sanchez who has homes in N.M and Long Beach...

    NM 14 a lot more relaxing and fun than I 25! Looks like you had a great time! I hope to hit this and the ABQ balloon festival one year!
