Question Alu control arms update question - brake related

So I've read threads here and elsewhere as well as Sherwood Lee's article from 1996 and one aspect not covered is the brake caliper fitment.

In the middle of getting alu arms onto my '73 and all aspects are fine in the areas mentioned everywhere such as the e-brake, the shocks and the sway bar mount. However, we have run into an issue with mounting the rear calipers. the mounting plate on the arm seems to be about 2mm proud of that on the steel arms and the result is the calipers don't line up with the discs.

Any advice or comment would be appreciated. I'll post some shots from my phone.

    Thanks in advance.

Looks like a thick Carrera rotor , you need rotors for an SC or earlier car . or calipers from a Carrera .

Just to close the loop for anyone else doing this swap…problem solved. Early hubs don't work - they must be swapped for '74 up hubs. Additionally, the camber adjustment eccentric bolt needs to be changed out for the '74-'89 one which is part number 901 333 133 06. The toe adjustment eccentric bolt does not to be changed out. Regardless, the toe bolt should be checked for wear.

    Cheers,

    Mark,
Back in '96, I wasn't conversant with brake upgrade issues, esp. rear brakes (still not). In addition, I thought steel arm hubs weren't compatible with alloy arms due to a different bearing dimension. In addition, both of my existing factory toe and camber bolts were too short (1969) to accommodate the alloy arms. Thanks for the additional upgrade info.

I think I owe most thanks to you for that great article!

Can't speak for the pre-72 cars but I do see from the various PET I've been through that the camber eccentric went through a LOT of changes. The old hubs (1973) looked all good even with a greater outside diameter on the alu arms as the inside diameter was the same so it was only the calliper mounting which threw up an issue for us.
