RGruppe/Early911S Registry Coffee and Donutfest Sat Oct 4

Just 2 days away. The weather is supposed to be spectacular. Actually, the first 2 weeks of October are 2 of the best weeks to visit the Bay Area. Typically, we enjoy the best weather on the planet for those 2 weeks. It may be the last get together where we are assured of great weather for the next few months. Hope to see lots of new faces and all of our regulars, of course. Kids, wives/significant others, dogs, friends........all are welcome. Please refrain from double parking on Harlan St and in the parking lot across the street at 4053 Harlan.. There is plenty of parking on Park St at the north end of the block. Fresh ground, locally roasted coffee served in real Coffee cups (Made in China, though) will be available from 9:00 on along with a pile of donuts (until they run out). Come meet like minded early 911 fans and owners. Many frequent contributors to the Early 911S Registry are here, as well.

    Regards

    Jim

Whoever the salty bastard is who complained about us dbl-parking should be bitterly chastised in public.

oh wait, who's the salty bastard now? dammit!

As is my habit, took Jim up on his cordial inmvitation to the monthly get-to-gether at EASY last Saturday. He must be either prescient or have a greater amount of influence with He who makes the weather than any of us suspected, because it really was spectacular. The donuts & coffee are even tastier on a perfect morning. Attendance was down a bit, since there was a group photo session elsewhere simultaneously, but those who came seemed to enjoy the camaraderie, talking cars and had a fine time.

Met new people and was able to put real persons with names whose posts I've been reading for a long time on our Registry, saw some neat new cars that hadn't been seen before ( the VW 411 Variant with perfect patina ) as well as some beautiful classics that haven't been around for awhile ( Bob Diefenbach's magnificent dark silver '66 911 sunroof coupe ) and a large number of attention-getting 914s of every description.

As always, a great morning, Thanks Jim.

    Thanks for looking.

the next set, starting out with Bryan "silverbullit's" very well done and beautifully maintained '67 911S engine compartment ( see the entire car in the first set above ), an almost satanic detail of the rare Variant, and three of Diefenbach's 'time-machine'.

……..and finishing up with just five of the 914s that had gathered to enjoy the magnificent autumn mooring - please forgive my clipping the front-end of the charcoal 914. I'm using a new body with a slightly different viewfinder arrangement and am not completely used to the 'new' view.

This was my first EASY meet and although I didn't drive my long hood, the Squareback fit the 60's vibe. It was a great way to end the long journey from Seattle, hang out with some friends and meet some new ones as well. Next month, I'll be sure to drive a flat six instead of a flat four. Cheers!

Another 914 that made an appearance

73 914 with a 1.8 liter A4 Audi motor mated to a 6 speed Cayman trans, putting out over 300 hp. This thing has more wizzbang gadgets in it than you can count! Very cool!

    Ciao
