    Another Garage Thread

I'm staring on a new garage project. We bought a new house so it's garage time again.

This is your basic suburban garage. It measures 20' x 20'. It's going to be more of a showcase than a working garage. I still have my big space where I actually work on cars. This garage will house my wife's Porsche and whatever car I happen to be driving at the time.

I want to keep these cabinets in place. The peg board will have to go though. I really don't like peg boards. Suggestions for the back wall where the peg board currently resides?

These lights are going. I'm considering led lights that are recessed into the ceiling. The fan will stay. I do live in SW Florida. We need fans.

I'm open to all suggestions here. Your thoughts? Please share you images with us.

    Richard,

Your garage seems about like mine. In south Florida too. I have the same fluorescent bulbs and have strongly considered replacing with some sort of LEDs. Ballasts (I guess?) go bad and half the times the lights don't turn on. I've managed to fit 3 cars in, although tight. If I got really ambitious, I thought of putting sliding doors on cabinets to avoid swinging doors on sides. Maybe that's something you coul do although I can't recall seeing such cabinets. I got the driveway tile extended into garage too.

just a thought...although often it is the ballast at fault however maybe you need to check your switch. I had a similar problem of lights failing to light immediately or at all. I was told to change the wall switch for one for fluorescent fixtures, the one I was using that had been there a long time was for incandescent lights.... problem solved.

I like the idea of bringing the driveway right into the garage. If you don't live in Florida you have to understand that these paving bricks are found in just about every community. Some people even clear coat them which looks nice - for about 6 months.

I have open shelves in my current garage and they collect a lot of dirt. Since I don't intend on doing a lot of work in this garage I'm going to use the cabinets with doors. While I was in Lowes this morning I looked at some really nice handles for the doors. That should improve the appearance of the cheap cabinets.

My real problem is what to do with out bikes. My wife and I both ride bikes and they have to be kept someplace so they can be taken out easily. I think they're going to go along the outside wall.
