Alloy of early 911 aluminium cases??????

Hello together, I could need some help for an engine repair. I have to weld an early sandcasted aluminium case and would like to know if you could help me with some information about the alloy.

Does anybody know the exact alloy, which was used in early 911 engine cases?

Would be great, if you could help me with these information…

Don't know the alloy of the cases but more importantly what wire/rod to use...
The welders that I have seen use 5356 except for one uses 4043. I personally think the 5356 comes out better.
Haven't seen a re-crack with 5356....of course it has allot to do with the skill of the welder.....and the heat...
Maybe someone else can chime in that has had more repaired than me.
There certainly plenty of Porsche machine shops that weld on them.....

Ollies just did a super job welding up a 67S case for me.They do it often. Maybe they will share the info. Maybe not. I thought those cases were 100% aluminum.

Welding cases is an art. I had a so called local expert almost ruin a 4-cam case which needed some work. I would suggest you send your case to a known entity (Ollies or Walt) instead of trying to do the welding yourself
