Which flywheel for a '74 and 901 gearbox?

    All,

I have '74 2.7s (175hp) and a '68 901 4 speed gearbox to be installed in a '68 912. The 2.7s engine currently has a 265(?)mm flywheel. From what I have read on the different forums, I will need either a 215 or 225mm flywheel. I'd like to keep the current clutch mechanism, so is it correct to go for a 215mm 911 flywheel with clutch? I could not find any clear reason when to use the 215mm flywheel and when to use the 225mm flywheel. I am not (yet) considering a 915 gearbox.

Would anybody able to elaborate one this?

    Your help is appreciated.

    Rgds,
    Martijn

    A 68 901 trans uses a push type clutch and the 911 (2.2) & 915 (2.4,2.7)type trans use a pull clutch.
If you want to put a 2.7 in a 68, it is probably best to change to a push type flywheel/clutch combo from a 2.0.

To use your existing '68 trans, you will need the 215mm flywheel with no needed changes to clutch set-up.
