H1s should be pretty good lights, if the lenses and reflectors are in good shape. They also need to be aimed properly though, which is rarely the case in my experience.

    Thanks all for the replies
The h1 are in good shape, and lots of time adjusting etc, still poor light even with 100 w bulbs.
What are the cibie lights dave,i would like the lights to look fairly standard if poss,ie a clear unit behind the h4 or h1 glass.
    Who is d zug please.

Have you measured the voltage at the headlight plugs?

Yes measured the voltage, one was down a little from a bad earth.
To fit the 7 inch cibie type conversions, can it only be done in a swb light,or will the later h4 convert also.
    Thanks

The Cibié will fit either the SWB lights (under glass), or in sugar scoops (exposed). They won't go in H1 or H4 assemblies without considerable modification.

The Cibie 7" are pretty much the same as an H4. Are you running relays? The light off an H4 with 80/100 bulbs is pretty awesome if all your wiring is up to snuff.
