Jim, do you know roughly what years this part is for? I have a similar script on my 1971 911s coupe which script is also in silver and always thought the script should have been in gold and was looking to change it. Sorry for highjacking your thread.

    Many thanks Peter

    Peter,

I have wondered the same. I have no idea how script color was assigned.

    Thx,
    Jim

Thanks Jim. Another case of whatever parts they had I guess. The silver looks good anyway,

I believe all the '911S' emblems started out as gold (or later black) and simply faded.

They also came in silver. I have a decklid from a '72 that is white and has all silver script. The decklid hasn't seen the light of day since 1986, and it definitely isn't faded from black. I just don't know why some cars came with black or gold and some came with silver.

I once had a 1969 911s with half silver (911s emblem) half gold (PORSCHE letters) from the factory. It was a single owner original paint car. The original owner remember wondering about the inconsistency when he bought it new.

You also had a '68S with the exact same silver/gold lettering.

Yep. I miss that car. I am happy that you are taking care of it.

I go along with Peter's analogy.
