Neat stuff --- leaning towards the 'original' vs 'restored' . . . and a 'fun' collection, too . . .

    . . . like this early '50s (?) 23-window. Sealing-wax red, looks like

Someone I'd like to meet some time

    And thank you for finding/sharing this! . . .

Wow: thank you so much for sharing this wonderful article... want to know more about the cars, especially the 904 which has the 'S' in the 'GTS' the right way up...

That's 904-063. Raced once at Spa in 64 and was crashed. Chassis replaced at the factory hence the Mark 2 short doors. Raced once in 65 and then passed from collector to collector. Very original car.

Press Car / used for adverts

So how does one get lucky enough to get the following information from the factory? I am curious to know if my car was used in a similar capacity, but I've been told "unless it raced, you won't get anything from the archives".

The Porsche 901 that Mathieu currently owns was a press car and, when he bought it, the Porsche factory gave him the full story. Not only was it a press car, but also the car used for a great many period advertisements, posters and catalogues – the most famous image being the one with Ferry Porsche.
