Thread: SVRA tires for early 2.0 911

SVRA racing tires for early 2.0 911

I will be returning my SWB 67S race car to a street car and building a 68L tub into my new racer. Seems like SVRA rules allow a 7 inch max wheel (front and rear), Anyone have a good tire and wheel recommendation? Looks like a 50 series tire is acceptable. I like that we may have a good consistent set of rules east and west.

You should be able to run 7s and 8s, but will have to flare the rear. I believe the tires that are most popular are Toyo Proxes RA1s in 225/50 and 245/50. They 2 liters might be running 45 series tires - can't remember for sure.

    Actually...

Most popular combination that is legal and that WORKS:
    205/50-15 on 7x15.
    225/50-15 on 8x15.

RA-1's not available in 245/50. They do have 225/45 but be ready for a gearing change.

The master has spoken... I was going from memory and obviously wrong. Plus, I did not stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

    Erich,

Regarding the two classes: Besides wheel size the most distinguishing feature is twin plug vs single plug and compression... and carbs.

    Frank,
    You forgot about weight.

I believe the top five should be weighed. It can happen with or without the driver and safety gear. The current fast is to also lighten the top of the car and then add lead weight to the floor.

Heck, you should make the rules. You know who is cheating and who isn't. You should tell Tony and his "staff" the real deal here. Tony is making millions of dollars (paddock rumor), and he can afford to pay you a lot of money to keep it fair.

I am not kidding: I'd love to see you Chief of Tech.

    Ha!
Tony doesn't have enough money to pay me for that thankless job.

I think some of the Porsche rules definitely need tweaking and they need to start pumping motors. If it's larger than the signed certification sheet entrant should be issued a 13/13 on the spot.
I actually think cheating is rare out east.

Erich, you need to decide where you want to fit into the food chain. If you build a competitive BP car you'll be running in top ten. CP? You'll have some great battles with the major appliances; otherwise known as B Sedan class.

And don't forget to use a large fuel cell; at least 18 gal. The enduros are the best part.

Thanks guys, I have been running my flat sided 67s for a dozen years, so it is time to go to 7 & 8's. Besides that I have been waiting 4 years plus for Brian P to finish my twin plug heads, so it is time to step up. The 68L tub is an 80's flare case, so nothing lost there.

Stable rules east and west will bring the 2.0 racing back big time.
