Will a 70 E oil tank fit in my 66?

My oil tank has been leaking a bit of oil, looks like a previous owner attempted to patch it up in a few spots.

I have an opportunity to purchase an oil tank from a 1970 E, will it fit my 66?

    Thanks,
    Mike

You may also have to change the smaller diameter vent hose on top of the tank (by the level sender) to a larger diameter one, or maybe not?

    Thanks for the input fellows.

Frank, do you know if I will need to change the vent hose as flatsixcrazy indicates may be necessary?

    Regards,
    Mike

THAT would be news to me. They've always used 25mm I.D. breather hose. That I know of.

My bad. For some reason I thought of the gas tank. Oil tank will fit just fine. My apologies. Carry on, nothing to see here....

Better take a real close look at your oil filter console, I don't believe the earlier console ports match the later tank.

Good advice-- you will want to use the filter console from the later tank. You can't just flip the early console upside down, oil won't flow and you will stroke the motor out.

Hmm. . . prior owners making kluge repairs. . . who ever heard of such a thing. . .

    Okay clarification required.
I understood the later oil tank would fit so I purchased it, waiting for delivery.
Now do I need to find an oil filter console from a later car, OR, will the tank from the 1970 E match?
