    Horn Pad Install Question

My 914-6 came with an aftermarket Momo steering wheel and I am going back to stock wheel. Pulled everything off and found a brown/white wire in the column (see below) is this extra because the 914-6 wheel is the same as the early 911's and use the contact pin correct? I did search this site for answers and found a post from Ed Mayo that said the columns had extra wires in it. So getting back to the stock wheel install there is no wire to connect to the horn pad right, just slip in the short contact pin and twist the horn pad on!

Ok, so I hooked the brown/white wire to the spade under my horn pad and horn worked when pad was pushed but also beeped when turning steering wheel left and right. Did not have a contact pin so I took the one out of my 911T and installed it no sound when pushing the pad or turning the wheel, did not hook up the brown/white wire (is this wire to be hooked to the spade connector under the pad, my 911T it was not).

In order for the contact pin to work there should be a phenolic plate with a contact ring that attached to the column jacket mounts. I don't see one here as the the 914/4 used a horn wire that plugged onto the back of the horn pad, which means you may need to do the same. Looks like one mounting ear has been broken off. Just temporarily ground that brn/whi wire, if the horn honks that's the one you hook up.
