    Faulty High Beam Switch

LWB.....Turn signals switch manually on and automatically off fine, however, high beams stay on constantly unless stalk is held in off position. Is this repairable or must the entire stalk, switch, and harness be replaced (looks like the cost is $250 for just the part :-( )

If you have the original 72 switch they rarely go bad since they use copper contact strips, starting in 73 that switch was superseded to one with plastic contact strips, and will be the only you can get now. Those seem to go bad about every five years. Although you can sometimes try to reposition the plastic contacts it doesn't seem to last very long. As far as shop practice goes we just replace the assembly since if you charge for time trying to fix one you've paid for most of a new switch. It isn't practical for us to spend that time. The good 72 and earlier switches had a very smooth rifle bolt feel, the newer ones are always rough and gritchy.

I've done mine about 3 times over the years, I suggest removing the drivers seat unless you are a contortionist.
