Just a reminder that this Saturday is our monthly get to together. Starts at 9:00AM and goes till 1:00PM or so.
The forecast is for rain. We'll just have to wait and see. I'll be here rain or shine.
Regards
Jim

The car count was down due to fears of rain. The day turned out to be a spectacular fall day and some really nice cars showed up.
I thought the biggest fear for you guys was 'NO RAIN'

Jim's right, of course, attendance was down a bit, but the quality of the cars was up. Weather was wonderful, the apple fritters still warm & fresh, Jim's coffe excellent as usual and here we3 were, on the first day of November and a lot of the guys showed up in shorts - we must never forget just how good life can be sometimes.
While it's been my experience that it may be unusual to see four new cars at any 1st-Saturday-of-the-month EASY meeting, I think that's exactly the kind of evidence that in my opinion plain puts the lie to uninformed, unsubstantiated rumors that the hobby is in decline, all the early cars are on their way to Europe, no new blood is entering the hobby, blah, blah, blah………..nonsense !
Photo #1: can't remember how long it's been since I've seen a more orderly, relaxed EASY meeting.
Photos # 4 & 5: Tom Martenot's - proprietor, Deutsche Motorsport - and his newly-built, almost-finished 3.2 liter, back-dated '75 "Longhood". One of the sweetest sounding 911s I've heard in a long time.

Continuing to add details and to address Peter's question re the 'silver thing", a couple of sets of the exceptionally clean & authentic '64 Corvette from Saturday mornings' gathering.
That car resonated very strongly with me, since it's a close duplicate of the car I had bought shortly before I got married exactly 50 years ago last Friday, on Halloween no less……, and over dinner while celebrating our anniversary on Halloween evening had actually reminisced about our old Vette, except mine had a four speed, posi-traction, "special" suspension which amounted to stiffer shocks, but on the other hand was approx. $50.00, dual-quad 365 hp motor, Kelsey-Hayes alloy knock-offs, chambered 'off-road' side-mounted exhausts, and a 36 gallon tank, which saw to it that we couldn't bring much more than tooth brushes and a few pairs of skivvies and clean shirts on our honeymoon. I also had the dealer add a metallic mid-night blue, foot-wide stripe down the middle. Bought the car from the largest Corvette specialist dealer in the mid-West, Doane Corvette in Elgin, Il., where I scored mine. It had been specially ordered by a U.S. Army Captain, but a few days before taking delivery, he unexpectedly received orders to ship out to Viet Nam which was just beginning to ramp up, allowing me to pick up the very car I'd been thinking about ordering for a while at a Hell of a price due to the unique list of options……Oh, how I miss the grand old days of my youth.

Another set devoted entirely to one car, this time Richard Sutliff's '68 912 making its public debut after a couple of years of painstaking work .with the '70 911T rear flares off Ruprecht ( which I replaced with steel RS factory items ) resprayed in the original Ossi Blue and a myriad other very nice details and, best of all, a screaming 6-cyl. 2.0 liter 'S' power train.
Richard and I plan to get together one of these spectacular fall days and taking a card full of shots for a detailed feature article in a future iussues of the ESSES.

Another one of the 'new' cars making its debut at EASY, but actually the second time around for the owner of this car, since he owned it once before but recently had the opportunity to re-purchase the car and subject it to a loving re-fresh and engine tune. One of the smoothest and strongest 2.0 liters you'll find anywhere, with a spectacular sounding modified stock muffler.
See you next in December, and thanks for looking.
