    1972 911S Carpet/Rubber Mat

I'm doing a 1972 911S Coupe and want it to be correct. I'm getting conflicting info on the carper vs rubber mat area.
I'm told by a couple of trim shops we all love, that there are no "rubber mats" in a 72S. The car had carpet throughout.

This car VINs about 60% of the way through the 72 build year.
I'm told by someone who makes high quality rubber products for 356 and 911 cars that the 72 has a rubber mats and does not have carpet on the floors and tunnel.

In my personal experience I've seen rubber in early SWB cars but not in long nose "S" cars.

Can someone who know clear this up for me?
    Thank you in advance
    Rick

What rubbish of course a 72S has carpet, deluxe velour salt and pepper for most, tan for some with ribbed rubber stitched in on drivers side and tunnel area

Sorry to hijack your thread, but I have a '67S and am wondering if I should outfit with rubber mats or do the carpet thing. Any advice here? Thanks.

    Very easy question

Rubber mats were in Short Wheel Base cars, mostly 912s (also 1969 912). Some of the 65-66 911 cars could have had rubber mats but most 911 cars had deluxe floor treatments, especially S cars (rubber was not deluxe) - a center tunnel rubber mat over the shifter was possible 65-67.

67 911S was a deluxe car and would have deluxe carpet on all of them, no rubber mats anywhere

by the time the long wheelbase came along in 69 all 911 cars would always have carpet - velour was the deluxe and perlon was the basic. If you have an S or E then velour should be in your car, like Clyde said Salt & Pepper was the mainstay, a few other colors were available but good luck finding the right material today.

But you do could have rubber mats for LWB's, its a 4 piece front and rear including cut-outs for pedals, as an option.
But its ultra rare so nobody knows it... I can provide a pic.

However other members are corrects, all S were equipped with carpets.
Re center tunnel rubber mat, some 2.2l 1970&1971 had them, other did not.

    This made me laugh, Clyde.

Also, any "trim shop" worth its salt would know this. Whomever the OP was talking to should close up shop and go home.
