    Question on correct finish for Chrome trim (Hockey Puck)

    Was the chrome trim circle on the hockey puck horn button finished in bright chrome or satin (dull)? Reason I am asking I just took one of mine apart (to send out for re-chrome) because it looked like it had been painted with silver paint. After removing the trim piece and peeling off some of the dull silver their was bright chrome surface underneath in good shape! Not only that the silver material that was covering it was actually silver tape, so heat gun and goof-off and it now looks brand new. So bright finish is original?

    Mike, mine is the butterfly type with bright chrome. Not sure if that helps you.

    I restored these for a time and my sense is that it was bright chrome.

    And yet satin has its allure. Or maybe the dull gleam of titanium would be a fitting trim icon and a clue that there was titanium elsewhere in the car...

    Chrome is correct.

    Satin stainless says "I am not a chrome-plated show-off, and do not bow to the Correctness people. I will never corrode or pit."

    Titanium says "Take a look at my valvetrain. Also, my other car is a McLaren F1 and it has a titanium tool kit."

    Bronze says "I just made it out of the Stone Age."
