The Canary: Fuchs part code error?

I have a set of 4 Fuchs on The Canary that carry the 901.361.012.04 part number but they also have the 6J x 15 size stamp which would indicate a deep six wheel? The date code is 6 68 on all and have hearts. I thought the 901.361.012.06 was the deep six and the 04 was a 5.5 x 15?

Here are some pictures of the worst of the four, can this amount of curb rash be repaired?

A good restorer will be able to fix that, but you may have to live with a polished look, otherwise the welds will be visible.

That is actually quite normal. It was discussed in depth in this thread. Hopefully this link will come through. http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...highlight=deep

Like I said on the previous thread...

"They are 06 wheels with 04 markings.
Many 69MY wheels during the changeover from 5.5s had the incorrect number on them since they used the same mold for the centers.
They failed to change the removable digits in the last of the number...or they just didn't have the new 06 insert ready....
You are right...some had the numbers ground off and some didn't......
Good for an early 69 MY car.

And the gouges look like they could be repaired without welding but I would have to inspect them in person to be sure.

Thanks Guys, I can see the outline of a 6 stamped in red over the 4! Would you sand the gouges on the petals out Harvey? What about this on the rim?

No, I wouldn't sand out the gouges.
I would "reforge" (my own process) them if possible.
It amounts to reworking the metal rather than grinding them too thin...
