    H1 Archaeology

I was going through my H1 stuff and found a couple of diamonds in the rough. Two lenses were covered in dirt and old scotch tape. I cleaned them thoroughly and found two of these. (Please forgive the poor pictures - my limited skills as a photographer have been well documented here.).

These are very early H1 lenses - note the different larger "prism" area as compared to the later ones. The number on the bottom on one is 1305 614 007 and the other is one I've never seen before: 1305 614 007 ..008. I think I'm going to mount them on these housings:

which I think are probably about the same age as the lenses. I knew that some H1's had the small city lights, but I had never seen a pair before these. Anyone know more about these? Are the small bulbs wired to the parking lights? Must be a nice glow with the bright reflectors.

Seems like a nice fit to mate the lenses with the housings.

I really love digging things out the dirt and finding them in great condition after all these years. H1 archeology.

    Cheers,
    John

    P.S. These are NFS.

    Hmm, interesting!
I'm in the process of restoring a pair of H1s myself.
Any idea of how my 009 lense differs to the 007 or 008?

May be RHD? But it looks the same...

It appears that this 009 is an intermediate step in the shrinking of the prism over successive generations as the prism is smaller than the 007/008 prism. The prism in those has the polygon on the bottom and three "bars" stacked above it. This one has the polygon and two bars. The latest version, the 010, has one bar.

BTW, this is a left hand drive lens. RHD lenses are currently available.
