    SWB Front Turn Signal Lenses

I'm restoring a set of front turn signals for a USA delivered '65 in the 1400 range. When I received them they had full amber lenses mounted on them - lettering for bulbs on the housings is stated in CP (as opposed to watts). I believe there were at least three different lenses appropriate for cars of that vintage:

    • all amber
    • all clear
    • clear/amber

I would appreciate input on the application of these various lenses. I can find new lenses with the correct Bosch lettering in clear/amber and all clear but I can't find them in all amber.

    Thanks,
    John

    According to Brett Johnson's The 911 & 912 Porsche, A Restorer's Guide to Authenticity,

    • all amber.......US
    • all clear.........Italy
    • clear/amber...ROW

My hardcopy parts catalog shows different front turn signals for Europe (except Italy), Italy, and the USA, but it doesn't specify the colors.

The lettering on the all amber lenses on my 911 is:

    BOSCH

    GERMANY
    SAE DP 64
    K2 0164 C

There's either an R or an L aft of K2 0164 C depending upon which side of the car, and there's a Bosch "rivet" logo forward of K2 0164 C on both.

I replaced the badly faded original lenses on my car (301382) years ago. I think one side was used and the other NOS.

Italy lenses are clear/amber but a smaller amber portion than Euro
