    Correct jack for a 1972 911T

I've done a lot of searching but seem to find conflicting information wrt what is the correct jack for a 1972 911T. I have seen both the "lever" type jack with the part that inserts into the jack receiver at a right angle to the post and also I have seen the Bilstein green dot jack with rotating handle referred to as the "correct" jack for this early 1972 911T. Can you plz help me out here and tell me which one is correct and, if possible, provide a picture. The jack would be carried in the car and used only for emergency tire change purposes. I am not interested in what would be correct for a PCA Concours, I just want to be able to carry one of these jacks just in case. Thanx in advance.

I have the same question. In order to absolutely have the right answer for the sake of "correctness", I have three different types of jacks for my car. I suspect that the type of jack that uses the tire iron as a lever is the right one because the correct (tapered end) tire iron for the 1972 tool kit is the one that fits that particular jack. I think the green dot jack came out a bit later. I don't know for sure...

I think this may be another of those Porsche quirks where there may not be an absolute distinction from year to year, however I think that generally the lever jack was used through 72 and the screw type started in 73. Harry, since you say you're not going for 'points' why not use the screw type, I think it is a better jack. In either case I'd suggest looking in the owners manual to see which jack is pictured.

Thanx, Ed, for the feedback. The car didn't come with an owners manual and I have one on order. I'll look in it when I get it and just go with that. Thanx again.

I was able to find the 1970 - 1973 Porsche parts Katalog online: http://www.porsche.com/all/media/pdf...73_KATALOG.pdf. It appears that the correct jack for the 1972 911T is the Bilstein green dot one: http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/...721-011-04-OEM

My 72 owners book shows the lever type, and that is what came with the car. #1446
