    Seat belts advice needed

In completing the restoration of my 1972 911 coupe, which I plan to actually drive on the road, I would like to make sure the seat belts are safe. Considering the age of the car, I wold have to believe that the original retractable seat belts would not survive the stresses of an accident, which would not be good for me and/or my passenger. So... I have been trying to figure out the best solution to this important problem. I would like to be able to swap my seat belts for new ones, while maintaining the originality of the car as much as possible. Is there a source for new retractable seat belts for a 1972 911 coupe? Even NOS belts may have degraded over the years, no? Any advice? Thanks everybody.

I'm no help regarding a current source for new but I would not be afraid at all of NOS as long as the inertia reel was working properly.

I just installed the pep parts seat belts in my 1970T to convert to retractable belts. Great seat belts, but not quite an original look.

Go to Seat Belt Planet. They've (Schneider Autohaus) made replacement belts for us before.

If your inertia reels are still fine then it is no difficult task to re-web and use the existing hardware. Pull all the webbing out, push the retaining pin out and remove the webbing. Stick a srew driver in the slot of the reel so you keep the tension on it. Send of the webbing of and ask for an exact copy with new webbing. Install new webbing in reverse order.

    Good luck,

    Cees
