Front Bumper Brackets '73 US unique ?

    All:
Stoddard lists and provides a picture of a front bumper bracket. In their description, they say the part is NOT the US '73 part.

The parts catalog lists the US bumper bracket as: 911.505.055.01
The other bumper bracket is part # 901.505.037.00

See picture below of the 2 front bumper brackets I have. One looks like the Stoddard part pictured on their website, the other has a piece welded in for what appears to be a strengthening measure.

The drawing in the '72-'73 parts catalog looks like it may have the strengthening brackets.

So question to the experts (Mr. Mayo)....Are the gusseted front brackets correct for US delivered '73 cars?

And a question to ponder.....I wonder if Porsche welded the gussets on these in advance of what they had to know was coming in '74 w/ the new bumper laws?

Use either one Dave, 72's and possibly early 73's used the non-reinforced piece. It would make sense that the change occurred after Jan. 73. Since you have both it would seem more correct to use the reinforced version on your 73. That way you can hit the wall at 2.5 mph without suffering any damage

Thanks Ed....Think we will get both refinished...put the reinforced one on the '73 and Eric and I will keep the other set for a secret project that even we don't know about yet....

I knew that the rear bumper brackets were reinforced for '73, but I wasn't aware that the front brackets were reinforced as well, but that makes sense. Since I need a pair of these for my '73, I watch for the later style.
