    Value of 2.2S pistons?

Can anybody tell me what a set of 2.2 911S pistons and wrist pins are worth? Original with slight corrosion...

    Thanks,
    Rob

Sounds like a sweet set of high compression paper weights.

You lost me with the "slight corrosion" line but pics might help. Or not.

    Good luck with the sale.

    Rob,

That is a hard question to answer without completely understanding the condition of your pistons. Flipping through a few completed ebay sales it seems an in-spec set should be easily worth a few hundred dollars +/- a hundred.

Example is for an for an E and includes jugs and a new ring set so take that into account:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-911-...4d1043&vxp=mtr

The ad also has some specs quoted; as Frank noted photos could help assess the "slight corrosion". This could be enough to create a hot-spot(s) and cause premature detonation. Not a good thing, especilly for those of us that would like a set of 2.2S pistons for a compression bump from say 8.0:1

    Hope this helps,
    -Andrew

Thanks Andrew, I appreciate the explanation.

I responded to a guy on the bird looking for a set and I said I had them but I have no idea what they are worth - I'm really just looking to arrive at a fair market price.

Attached are a couple of pics. I look forward to any input, thanks.

The detailed pictures help; If the skirts and ring lands measure to all be in spec you may be able to get $200 for the set. Personally, the corrosion as seen on photo #1,#3 and #6 would keep me from using those.

Thanks for input although $200 probably isn't worth my while.

I bought a full set of 2.2S P&Cs last year for $1800 on Pelican that were in VG condition. I later saw a set for $2K. I haven't seen another since. I have no idea what pistons alone are worth.
