Fitting wide S rocker deco around jack receiver

I'm installing new rocker deco on my 73 and the deco lower edge extends below the upper edge of the jack receiver. My originals did the same thing and were pretty ugly from getting smashed there. Is it common to trim the edge of the deco to make it fit around the jack receiver? Dremel it?

    Hi Jeff

Yes the issue is usually that the jack receiver is bent up due to the weight of the car on the jack and the tube not being strong enough to support it. There is usually a crown not a straight line on the top of the jack receiver

Then as you have found the trim won't fit nicely. I have tried smashing the jack tube back into shape but never been really successful.

I have cut the trim out, small piece at a time, fitting and refitting until it sits pretty well, seems to be the best way to proceed. Bending only crazes the alloy trim in the area which looks bad too.

This will work OK if you don't wish to to go to the expense of replacing the jack tube.

Just go slowly and don't cut too much off at a time and don't cut too wide either.

Thanks Cees, that's just what I did (even including the black paint and removal of the Carrera script).
