1965 911- what is Factory correct seat face pattern/finish?

What is the ex-Factory correct pattern- or no pattern- for the 65 seat fascias ? Excluding pepita, you could have leather and leatherette.

    So-

    I have seen:

    leatherette

    - flat/plain no pattern in pleats
    - small "perforation' hole pattern in pleats
    - heavy patterned square/grid type patterns in pleats

    I have also seen:
-perforations on the rear of the seats; see red 356C seat pic- should early 911's have this too ?

Can anyone advise beyond doubt what's factory correct ? These images are my 18,000 mi from new one owner '64 356C.......were the early 911s the same ?

Black seat is 302474 coming up for auction.

Green seats are my 3 owner '65, leatherette with no "pattern" on seats. Everything on car is original, no reason to assume these aren't.

    Cheers

    S.

To the best of my knowledge, the earliest 911s with leatherette seat inlays had perforated vinyl like the late 356s. Here's the best souce I have, page three of a "Printed in Germany" brochure dated April 1965:

With a little help from Photoshop, here's a better view of the seat:

I think cloth seat inlays were a zero cost option so leatherette seat inlays may not be too common. It's outside my expertise, but Porsche may have switched to more of a basketweave embossed leatherette as early as the 1966 model year. You can see it on Der White's 911 912 website, look for 911-912 Porsche Color & Interior Sample Book, 1966!.

Has anyone found out when they changed from 6 to 5 inlays?

    John,

Exactly what to you mean by 6 to 5 inlays? My 1958 T2 356A has 5 rows of material separated by 6 rows of stitching as does my 1965 911 and as does a 1972 911T you can see at Car & Driver:

I think John means this: 6 inlays on both front and rear seats. Later had 5 front and 6 rear.
This are all on 901's & Prototypes:

I see. That looks like an early 901 prototype--the steering wheel and passenger door are different from the usual 911. I found an October 1964 German brochure with a more typical interior but still 6 pleats:

Maybe this narrows it down a bit. Note the rubber floor mats and the retouched glovebox door (to eliminate the 901).

Yep, that was what I was asking about. I believe somewhere between the '64 cars and the '65 cars they changed.

    1965 seats

Here is a photo of my old 6/1965 built 912. The seats are believed to be original and have 5 pleats. The back side of the seats had perforations also.

In this brochure, we can see 6 inlays (pleats), unfortunately I forgot which year it was issued:
