    1965/66 Toolkit and jack

    Hi guys,

I need help as I have opportunity to buy toolkit and jack for my MY66 911 and for that kind of price it has to be correct for the car. I´ve seen leather like bag but also fabric-like bags, whats the correct one? The seller has 3 different jacks that all seem to have some small differences in details, how can I pick up the right one?

Unless Soterik chimes in, here a description he once sent to me:

First thing is all bags are black…NO other colors, period.
64-66: 2 different textures, both "fabric like" in appearance. One has more horizontal robby like texture to it. Inside is putty color.

Eric, I agree. That's what I was thinking also. My '65, #301111 came with a bag in photo #3

Great info, thank you! How about the jack, how do I know how to select the correct one as the seller has 3 very similar looking ones but there is small variations in the details?

The early 911 jack is essentially the same as the 356C jack. They even have the same part number 644.722.010.00, although that part number runs from the 356A through the short wheelbase 911s and there are three somewhat different jacks for 356s. See Eric Cherneff's website: http://www.356tools.com/Jack.htm

Here's a photo from that site:

I have heard that a 911's jack should have a black base instead of blue. I carry a jack with a blue base (it's not original to my car).

The unrestored jack found in 304523 (May 66) has a black base.

Were the 356 "C" cars jacks blue? The reason I ask, is my '65 #301111 came with a blue jack base.

To the best of my knowledge, all 356As, Bs, and Cs had jacks with the famous Bilstein Blue base. It was only recently that I heard that [some] 911s had a black jack base. Maybe the change was after 1965.
