    Original 100L tank with sender

I'll cut to the chase: With some insane prices being spat out lately I am curious what an original 100L tank and date stamped 1/69 sender is worth?

When a fuel tank is worth as much as a car, it may be time to sell.

Please feel free to PM if you have data.

    Thanks.

I saw a post where someone said originals were worth $17000. But that might have been the same person claiming 'sepia is coming back.'

Tank is worth $4-6000 depending on condition.

Sender is worth $1500-2000 depending on condition.

Wasn't someone advertising fuel sending unit repair along with modifications for big tanks in the latest S Registry magazine?

OT:Here's a thread on what lurks inside many tanks.

In the past I've had good luck with Muriatic Acid with ball bearings, bolts, nuts and vigorous shaking. Resorting to cutting one open would be my last choice.

    Great tank Frank,

Would you mind posting a photo of the breather pipe area and let me know the diameter of the breather pipe.......it's been stated elsewhere that this is 8mm although I have it on good authority it should be closer to 16mm? I still need to fit one to my repro tank.

    Would be much appreciated.

Best of luck with the sale, wish I was a rich man.

    Cheers,

    Darren,
I will do that first opportunity.

Looks like it's going back onto the shelf. Not worthwhile at this point.

I agree with Marco; $4,000-$6,000 for the tank, depending on condition. Sender prices are difficult because you don't see many out in the wild, but my guess is that an original tank, coupled with the original sender (in working order) would be ~10% higher than a tank with no sender.

$17,000 is ludicrous... surely that must have been in jest.
