    if by the phrase "...with brackets" you mean the one pictured, this is *not* what you're looking for.
    SWB type have permanently mounted "V" shaped brackets ... and are a little smaller.

    Later SWB cars had the same "LWB covers" above.
    I have the early SWB covers on my ´67, but that is probably because my bumper has been replaced and the donor was an early 912. I should have had the covers in Jerry´s picture. Not sure when the change took place. 66MY?

    hi Schiefer;
    thanks for chiming in. I associate the smaller covers w/ Hella 128 lights & the larger ones (as in my photo) w/ the larger Hella 169 units. '68, while technically being a SWB car, gained many LWB attributes. pretty sure 128s were in use at least through '67, but after that ??
    my accessories catalogs have moved on & I didn't make copies for reference.
    anybody else ?

    Hi Jerry,
    Found my Dr. Johnson book now. He states:

    "According to the parts manuals this cover (my pics) was used up to chassis number 305100, which corresponds to the hundredth 912 built in 1965. This cover was also fitted to 912´s built by Karmann; however, the last chassis number for the last car so fitted is not recorded. The 902 parts number also flags this as a 912 part"

    I´m no 912 guru (or 911), but the chassis number he is referring to must be an error because 305 is the beginning of 67 911MY coupe. Correct me if I´m wrong, but doesn´t ´65 912 chassis numbers begin with 350??

    I have been confused about this info in Johnson´s book for a long time. Living in a country with only a handful SWB cars, I´m not really in the best position to get any "hands on" experience. But to guide the restoration of my car, I collect all pictures I can find of solid 67MY cars. I have only seen the small covers on my own car, all the other cars I see have the later cover.

    Hopefully someone can clarify for how long the early covers were used. Everywhere I see these covers for sale, they are referred to as "SWB covers". In my opinion this is wrong.

    I believe the 128 fogs were used until the end of ´68MY.

    Rgds, Radmund
