    A new term on Kardex

Hello, friends - Digging into the history of a recently-restored early 901, I found the following term on its Kardex, in reference to its interior: "Leder Bonsanil 145". OK, it's leather...but what is Bonsanil 145? Can't find that term anywhere else.

Also, has anyone ever figured out why there is a large capital "M" stamped in the door jambs of earlier 911s above the top hinge? That one keeps me up at night!

    Happy Holidays to all!

Hi, I have just a guess.
Fact: Anilinleder is a type of hide(leather) that has no (surface)paint on it.
It is coloured through and through(??? transl.?) with "anilin" transl: (aminobenzene, phenylamine, aniline) colour.
Guess: Bonsanil is a trademark of one manufacturer for anilinleather. (Like kevlar for aramid or teflon for ptfe)
Just like Gekalux is the trademark for some type of vinyl Recaro used.

    Cheers

    Uli

Regarding the 'M8' stamped on all pillars; I asked that very question of Jochen Bader at the Traverse City Parade. Jochen is the supervisor of Porsche's classic restoration shop,,,,,his response,,,,,"I don't know"! Ya gotta love it, sort of like Johnny Carson's "stump the band" schtick.

I think the actual machines which did the pressing into a form were from ThyssenKrupp.
