Thread: My '72 project

    My '72 project

Just thought I'd introduce myself formally. I bought a '72 911T from a friend of mine in Canada. He bought it in 2002. Sometime in 1995 it made its way from Germany to Canada. Now it's here in NC.
The body kit was a German idea and my goal is to do a restoration to as close to original as finically possible. So far I have all the body panels except the rear quarters. Lucky for me the car is numbers matching and has sports seats. Although someone recovered them in red at some time. Attachment 316598Name: image.jpg

Looks like you may be upside down on your project? Not a good place to be. Oh, that's just the photo that's upside down. Whew!

The only thing that I can see is the wipers appear to be switched.

At least the PO didn't seal the oil door access. And remember when an 80's body kit is removed an angel gets its wings.

I've been trying to find info about the "comfort equipment" but not having too much luck.
Is it "S" bumpers and trim? I have a S bumper from a 1970. And fenders etc...
Would be nice n easy to replace with what I have already.

I'm all about originality. And I applaud your direction. However, I do want to at least stop and recognize that as far as slant noses go, I think this one is actually one of the better looking ones that I've seen! My hat's off to the guy or guys who designed the fenders, headlights, flares, etc., and those that did the work.

Also, despite where the numbers are going on the values of these cars, and your noble plans, this may be a car that is better sold as is, and you start on another car that doesn't need as much. That's just an economic consideration, not an emotional or "how it should be" consideration.

I will think about it. I'm about to change jobs sometime next year. And take a huge pay cut. I guess if the price was right I'd sell it with the spares I have. It drives great, took it out today. But the slant nose kit doesn't do it for me. When you are behind the wheel the ascetics mean nothing.
