    Massaged rods....

I have five rods that look to be 66mm crank rods but they are different from stock 2.2 rods. Here are pics of the rods. And then a comparison to a 2.2 rod. Finally the five rods side by side with a detailed "stamping" to identify which P and C they refer. It was suggested that these are early rods from a race engine? They are definitely of an alloy that seems to be steel. Your help is appreciated.

They are just early 2.0 liter rods that someone has lightened by grinding off a lot of metal, then because he had ground off all the matching cap/rod numbers he center punched them so the rods and caps wouldn't get mixed up.

    Ok...
    2.0 rods with bolts 645 grams w/o 563 grams
As compared with some 2.2 rods which are 745 grams with bolts and w/o 712 grams.
How much did the original 2.0 rods weigh? I'm curious....

That surprises me...I would have thought the stock weight would have been higher. Lot of work to go through to save 5 grams. Yours are stock, right Mark?
