'. . . NOS 911 Bosch Chrome H4 Headlights NIB Price: 1000.00
I have a pair of NOS H4 complete pair of headlight assemblies for 911s. These are NLA with the BOSCH name on the headlight glass. They are chrome rimmed and come with bulbs. I purchased these in the 90's from Alan Johnson Racing and never opened them until today when I took these pictures. These are in new condition and perfect for your correct concours restoration. These will work with 911/930/C2/C4 1965-1994. These have been sitting sealed in my garage for over 20 years and deserve to go on a nice car . . .'
(Not mine)
Yup, says right there on the label "Made in Czech Republic".
But the lenses do say "BOSCH", not "AL". That's gotta be worth something to some people. And considering how the prices on even the current Czech AL lights have gone lately, maybe a grand for a pair that say BOSCH isn't too far out of line.

Great observation on the BOSCH logo. I'm not up to speed on all the details. Are the scripts raised on the H4's like the H 1's? Someone commented about H1's with raised scripts on the inside!!! A while back. .....cliff

The Czech AL's I have in my '84 are the later ones that have AL lenses, not Bosch. FWIW, they may not be original German lights, but the quality of mine is very good.
The set in question here must have been built fairly soon after the move of production to the Czech Republic. Still using the original Bosch tooling for the lenses.
I don't think any of the H4s had raised logo lenses. But I'm far from an expect on this stuff.

I'm curious as well. Did H4's have raised lettering on the outside? I know of a pair that went for sale recently on the forum.

Older thread I know, but the question about raised script on the outside of H4 lenses hasn't been answered definitely yet. I currently have a pair of H4's listed here and I was asked by a prospective buyer if the Bosch lenses had raised script. They do not and I said that I had never seen an H4 lens with raised lettering. the prospective buyer said there had been a pair listed here for sale a year ago or so - I can't find them.
Does anyone know if H4 lenses ever had raised lettering? I'm about 98% sure they did not. We know early H1's did, but they were introduced in 1968 and H4's weren't produced until 1972. I'm know that the very early H1 lenses had raised lettering and I've always wondered when it ended. Perhaps before 1972? Anyone know definitively?
Thanks,
John
