    1967 sport purpose seats

I would like to understand what alternative seats were available back in 1967 which may have been used in a 67S. I will be commencing the restoration of my own 67S in 2015 and would like to know other than the standard seats which were available were any sports purpose seats available back in 1967. I understand that a sport recaro was available, however these are I believe are like gold dust and not many sets have been for sale over the last few years.

I would also like to understand if there are any recommended suppliers out their who supply top quality replica seats such as the 67 recaro's or alternatives.

    thanks
    Mark

I just bought a set of reproduction sport S seats (Recaros) from Stefan at GTS Classics - http://classiccarseats.com

    Here's my 2c,

I believe there were three factory seat options available in 1967 for road cars:

    1. The regular "touring" seat

    2. The sport seat (no headrest)

    3. The bucket seat (aka Ferrari seat or 911 GT seat).

I believe they were all made by Recaro. The regular and the sport seat could be ordered on any car. If you ordered the rally kit, it came with sport seats that could be switched out for bucket seats at no cost. I'm guessing you could order the bucket seat directly (or through parts) but my sense is that they were mostly distributed via the rally kit option.

    Hi John

Thanks for the link to the thread, really useful, I have not seen the finish on the bucket seat option before, is this an after market change or was this standard for the bucket seat option. I have only seen the basketweave inserts with perforated side bolsters in the past or with smooth side bolsters.

    thanks

Here's a shot of the bucket seat (aka Ferrari seat or 911 GT seat) in my '67. I love how this seat feels.

Can I just say black corduroy turned reddish brown is so beyond awesome it hurts the bones that will some day ache from the cold?

Thanks for the additional pictures everyone.

    John

You have a fantastic set of seats there, the original material still looks perfect.

Pictures I have seen previously of sport bucket seats for 68 cars have the back of the seats uncovered therefore showing the plastic bucket material and screws in the rear. would the back of the bucket seats been covered as per your seats in all cases ?

    Regards
    Mark
