Jacques, I tried to get one new for some time, to no avail. There are many correctly re-furbished ones around quite cheaply, with some warranty in many cases. I got one of those.

Alternatively some folk get the gear reduction types, that are lighter. I wanted something like my original.

Check your spec book for engine numbers, very early cars had a different flywheel tooth count, I they were basically 356 tooth spacing. A later Bosch starter won't mesh. Of course your engine may not have that flywheel any more just for that reason. The early starter was really what was used on 904's, early tooth pattern, but 12V.
