    MFI prime?

    Guys,
I have a 71 S that I am desperately trying to reassemble. I plan on putting the engine back in this week.
Before I put the engine/trans back in, does the MFI need to be primed with gas or oil?
Or, will the fuel and oil pumps take care of this?
    Thanks much!

You should not need to prime the oil or fuel. You should check the timing of the MFI pump and I always crank over a new motor with out the plugs installed until you have oil pressure.
    Good luck

And be sure to ground the high tension lead from the coil so the spark doesn't try to jump internally some where.

Hi Jay, if it's all fresh I do put oil in the MFI pump. Also if the fuel system is all fresh run the pump and also crack off the air bleed on top of the filter housing. You will see a small screw head on the top. It is slotted at the bottom so you don't need to fully take it out, just undo it a few turns. This releases the air trap which forms there.
