    Remove quarterlight glass?

Whats the best procedure for removing the quarterlight (wind wing) glass from a SWB frame, without damaging anything?

I've searched this forum but can't seem to locate anything.

    Thanks for any suggestions

Remove the frame from the door and then remove the vent assy from the frame. I've done it about 500 times. You can do 90% of the job with a 5mm Allen , a 7mm open end wrench, a 10mm socket and a 10mm open end wrench.

I'm talking about getting the glass out of the frame so I can have the frame re-chromed.

Watched my body man dale do it recently. Used a "special" tool. Namely a butter knife which he kept inserting between seal and glass. Had to "worry" the glass out by pushing and pulling incrementally. Very slow process.

I use a small screw driver and just pry the glass out of the frame. I've done it too any times to count. I wouldn't recommend it to everybody, though.

And use some heat! If you have a heat gun get it good and warm.

It's been a long, long time since I disassembled my vent windows, but I think I used hot water to soften things then more or less pulled the glass out.
