    As a beginning:

    correct aerial/antenna

Truly correct vintage Hirschmann or Bosch antennas are some of the hardest parts to find. I think it's a 19 mm hole, at an angle, through two thicknesses of sheet metal.

Woody's Custom Shop http://www.woodyscustomshop.com has a decent substitute and--at this moment--has one that might match the original except it's missing some of the chrome bits that cover the base.

There are some pictures of better--if not 100% correct--antennas in the thread "What's this key for?"

    car jack

See http://www.356tools.com/Jack.htm. An early 911 jack is the same as a 356C jack except that--at some point--the jack base color changed from Bilstein Blau to black.

    tool kit contents

    PET has this list:

    • 901.721.001.20 TOOL BAG WITH CONTENTS COMPRISING:
    • 644.721.010.01 TOOL BAG
    • 901.721.201.21 SPARK PLUG WRENCH
    • 901.721.221.00 RIM WRENCH 19
    • 999.195.002.02 DOUBLE-END SPANNER 8 X 9
    • 999.195.003.02 DOUBLE-END SPANNER 10 X 11
    • 999.195.007.02 DOUBLE-END SPANNER 12 X 13
    • 999.195.008.02 DOUBLE-END SPANNER 14 X 15
    • 999.195.005.02 DOUBLE-END SPANNER 17 X 19
    • 999.571.017.02 SOCKET WRENCH 19/22
    • 999.191.002.02 SCREW DRIVER
    • 900.137.001.02 PHILLIPS SCREW DRIVER B 2
    • 999.107.003.02 UNIVERSAL PLIERS
    • 999.192.013.50 NARROW V-BELT 9,5 X 710
    • 901.722.201.00 TIRE PRESSURE GAUGE (see http://www.356tools.com/messko_gauge.htm--the early 911 gauge is the same as a 356C)
    • 911.721.013.00 BAG WITH 5 FUSE
    • 901.721.702.20 RETAINING BRACKET FOR V-BELT PULLEY
    • 901.721.327.00 GLYCERINE
    • 900.066.003.02 ADJUSTING KEY 10 (allen wrench)

There are several different materials for tool kit bags; determining the correct material is beyond my capabilities. I have two bags and I'm not certain either is really correct for my 911. I believe all 911 bags were black; they resemble the 356C bags.

    front fog light covers

I never heard of an "official" original fog light cover. I have a set from Autos international to protect those expensive Hella 128s.

    steering wheel & horn switch

A 1966 911 should have come standard with the wood wheel and the "butterfly" horn button. These were options 9265 and 9266 for 912s. Sometime during the 1965 model year, Porsche switched from aluminum to steel for the steering wheel spokes so you want steel.

factory pouch and owners manuals etc.

I believe the correct pouch is maroon plastic with a Porsche crest. The full set of papers would include an owners manual, warranty/service booklets and also some papers for the radio. Blaupunkt papers came in a transparent yellow plastic pouch.

    external mirrors

The small, round Durant was standard (same as a 356C). Talbot mirrors were optional but were shipped uninstalled.

    headrest and stems

Headrests were optional. I don't have pictures.

Other folks might have additional stuff.

That Blaupunkt packet is actually for a "T" series radio (1962-1963); a truly correct one for my car might be a bit different.

NeunElf (Jim), I too would like to thank you for your contribution to Xen's post. I am working on my 66 as well and appreciate the information provided.

I'm sure many others feel the same way, this community is unique and it's contributions like yours that confirm the passion for our cars.

All the best with your car Xen.

    Regards,
    Mike

I wish I knew where to find one, I wasn't kidding when I said it was one of the hardest things to find.

My 911 came to me with a broken antenna that was probably original.

Woody's custom is offering an antenna they call NOS "NOS German Made in Germany Hirschmann AM FM Radio Antenna PORSCHE 911 912 65-73"

The Woody's "NOS" antenna has a housing (the inside the fender part) that sure looks like my car's [presumably] original antenna housing. It does have a detachable coaxial cable.

It's different from my car's [presumably] original antenna in two ways:

    1. I had a metal wedge to match the fender angle--not an adjustable spherical thing, and
    2. I had a two piece chromed-metal cover that screws down from the outside to hold the antenna down. The black screw-down cover on Woody's NOS antenna could be correct for a car built after 1972 or so.

Also, I think a mid-1960's NOS antenna should have an orange box.

Here's a photo of my current antenna:

It's been close to two decades, but I think the chromed screw-down cover is the one from my original antenna, rechromed. The antenna I have now is a good enough replacement to make me happy but it actually extends something like 8 to 10 feet. The black plastic extending above the chromed screw-down cover may be too tall and there shouldn't be so many threads showing (I'd have to take the the door off to fix that).

If you really want to know what's correct, maybe you should start an antenna thread and/or search the archives.
