    space saver tire

I have a 72 with 185/70-15 tires on 15-6J rims. What size rim do I need for a space saver tire?

the same size as you have - but they are really hard to mount
what spare do you currently have/
you may be better trying to source a wheel with a good space saver already on it
they are available from cars up until the late 80's, although the later ones come with different (double) valve stems to stop people from over inflating them but apart from that there is no difference. however i think there were different offsets for different cars - that would be all you would need to look at

i have had spacesavers mounted on "flat" Fuchs 6x15's twice and both times it was difficult - but not as difficult as taking them off. I have been told by the tyre guys that space savers will not mount to a "deep 6" though.

The spacesavers usually came with 5.5 steel wheels but there is some evidence that they also were used on 6X15 Fuchs and 6X15 ATS (in period photos)
BTW, if you or your tire guy needs a tutorial on how to remove and remount them, I will tell them.
We did more than 30 in a row and found a solid way of removal without much difficulty...
and I have seen them on deep 6s but they usually fall off of the inflation area and won't pump up properly.
