Fitment question on un-nmolested '66 911 205/65/15 tirre... plus bonus video

I came into possession of 4 new Michelin 205/65-15 X-Ice tires. I would be mounting them on the old school McAfee rims for occasional use. Good or Bad?

I came across this video a long time ago...concerns 917's

You can do it, but the X-ice is not a performance tire, and in that size they will be very heavy and slow to spin up and spin down.

I used the same size on '065 pre-restoration. Now I use 185 Vredesteins. . . and they are STILL too heavy.

The best way to tell if they'll fit is to try it. Mount one tire to the a wheel and try it on all four corners. A lot depends on the actual size of the tire (varies considerably by brand), wheel width and offset, and the individual car's body, ride height, suspension travel, etc. Normally, even a 205/60-15 is too wide, usually at the rear. You can always play with 1/4-inch-thick spacers and fit longer lug bolts if needed.
