Electrified rear window defrost on early 911 with vertical lines

My understanding is that there was an early rear window that had vertical heating elements instead of the typical horizontal lines on later models.
Does anyone have a photo? What was used to control it, illuminated dash switch? Any info/photos would be appreciated.

That rear window was used in the first hard back glass 68 911/912 Targas. It was only used for 68 YM cars. All back glasses since then have painted-on heater elements and run horizontally.

This early 67S sold by Henk (Fritz´s old car?) has electric heated rear windshield on the CoA. Are the lines horizontal or vertical?

Can anyone confirm that the switch above the light switch is for the rear window defroster?

Yes that is my old car. The window heating lines were vertical and very thin compared to the common horizontal heated rear windows.
There was a RSR style black pull knob under the dash to activate it if I remember correctly.
So they did come on a 1967 911 coupe for sure, although I have never seen another one.

I want one! Not only is this a cool rare option, it is a very practical feature for the car. We take these for granted on our more modern cars. The typical forced air defrost on the early cars are dependent on engine temperature and leave a bit to be desired for functionality IMHO. Any leads would be appreciated.

I do know of a local 67 911s Coupe with the vertical heater wires buried in the glass. It is a heavily optioned car and is the only 67 coupe I have ever seen with a heated rear glass. It is "factory" but can almost be labeled an "outlier". I'll bet one could count on one hand the number of 67 Coupes with a heated back glass.

Dr. B. Johnsons 911 & 912 Porsche books details the various windows on page 28 1991 edition (second). The heating elements are very faint & I believe only in clear glass, not tinted & 1967 was the first year for them!?...........
