    Any Fibreglass guru's among us ?

    Any Fibreglass guru's among us ??

    grafting on front and rear rsr bumpers to a 73 with flares already fitted . need to cut and extend both side front and rear . as such need guru's advice and the best way forward for this work .

    cut the pieces loose. Grind a bevel on all edges, inside and out. Use some metal straps with holes drilled on wither side and pop privet the two pieces into place. Cut some strips of glass and lay them up in-between the metal straps. Let them setup. Remove the metal straps ( drill out the rivets ) and glass the parts together using subsequently larger pieces of fiberglass to overlap the previous. Finish with a little bondo.

    Not a guru, but yes. On hindsight, it's always best to install flares with the bumpers so any fitting includes most of the variables.

    Here are a couple of slices I made on my RS rear bumper to prep for glass and resin.

    Especially at the beginning he deals a lot with making his GRP stuff - so you'll have to dig through the old stuff.

    cheers , normally i have to just cut and shortern items , but the flares were already on the car with the 74 style bumpers , backdate to 73 rsr and these ones just are short. will tackle these this weekend .

    have you got a photo of the rs bumper on yours at the front edge ? trying to see how your fibreglass edge meets the front chassis
