    Correct Front Stabilizer Finishes?

Please help me get the correct finishes on my front stabilizer assembly...

The research shows that the following finishes are correct for the front stabiilizer...

    • stabilizer bar (black)
    • lever and lever bolts (gold/yellow zinc)
    • ddrop links (IS THE CORRECT FINISH BLACK OR YELLOW ZINC?)
    • bearing bracket (black)
    • fender caps (yellow zinc)

Stoddard sells the drop links, but they are yellow zinc. is that correct?

Please let me know if i have anything else wrong.

Thanks, as always. I rely on the collective wisdom of the community.

My original 71E front swaybar that had never been removed prior to the start of my restoration was as follows:

    Bar and links black
All other hardware, levers, ect.. are yellow cad / zinc

    My 69 had

    Black bar and drop links.

    Gold zinc hardware.

I think that it stayed the same upto 73, but stand to be corrected.

This is perfect. I was only confused by the offering of yellow zinc/cad drop links as new parts. The ones I removed were certainly black.

Again, this helps a lot. Thanks, friends.

Did any year have zinc drop links? I may have screwed up but I re-plated mine because they had tired plating already.

in response to Bob Harriman, i have several sets of drops links, and none of them were yellow zinc. all were painted black, and it was very easy to tell that they were not previously plated.

however, if my recollection is correct, the new drop links being sold by Stoddard are yellow zinc. not "original" but i'm not sure i would go to the trouble of painting a plated part, unless i was very serious about 'correctness.' (i note from your photo that the bolts were/are not yellow-plated. is that the correct finish?)

The non plated cover bolts are from my original cover and you are correct. The drop links were purchased from Stoddards. The bar I bought came with all the hardware except the drop links and bushings. Everything was in 45 year old condition so I had Eric at PMB plate everything else.

    Lightbulb

Before I went to adjustable drop links (now second generation). I replaced the originals (because of failures) with new factory replacements. Both the originals and replacement were factory black painted....
