    1973 911S Targa shocks/tires

    Hello everyone!

I have owned my 73 targa for a year now.

Will 215/60/15 tires work on the stock wheels?

Im thinking Koni adjustable for shocks. Yes? or Bilsteins? Any difference?

Also, when it starts after sitting awhile there is some smoke for exactly 2 min. Is this normal for MFI?

    Thanks much!

They might be a little too wide. I run 205/60/16 on my '73.

I've got Koni non-adjustable shocks all around. I don't see any reason to put adjustable shocks on a street car. You can't go fast enough to get a good reading for the adjustments. Most of the time you're adjusting the shocks based on oversteer/understeer in mid-corner. You just can't do that on the street.
Now a track car is a whole different animal.

I believe early Targa's were not offered with Koni's, because harsh ride conditions caused squeaks and rattles etc. Boge shocks were standard. That may of changed later. When did Targa's use the reinforcement bar under the dash?

Gordon, I think the reinforcement bar ended in 72.
